As part of the celebrations for our 70th anniversary in 2022, we auctioned off the Arminia Bielefeld soccer jersey; the proceeds went to the Dreamleagues, which sponsors 10 junior soccer teams in Kagiso (Johannesburg). Soccer kits were presented on 19 June to overjoyed Shongi coaches by the Arminia Bielefeld soccer team representatives. After that, we watched the games and cheered for our future male and female soccer stars. Their soccer uniforms made them look the part. Inspiring best describes the day's events.
Children in the informal settlement "Soul City" now have access to a daily football program led by project-qualified coaches (with SAFA D and C licenses). Throughout the school year, the qualified Shongi Soccer coaches organise and oversee five-a-side league games leading up to a massive interschool championship.
